Rate limits

Requests are rate-limited per key. Over the limit, Konsol returns 429 Too Many Requests with a Retry-After header. Wait that many seconds, then retry the same request.

The default limit

Each key can make 5 requests per second on average, with bursts of up to 20. Every request counts, whatever the endpoint, and one key's requests never use up another key's limit.

If your integration needs more, ask your Konsol contact to raise the limit for your key. The change takes effect without a new key.

Staying under the limit

  • Read lists with limit=100, the largest page size.
  • Keep a copy of the records you use often, and refresh only what changed. See Syncing data.
  • Do not fetch records one by one by id for a report or an export.
  • Run a few requests at a time, not hundreds. More parallel requests reach the limit sooner without finishing faster.
